Orofacial Myology Services
Healthy breathing, feeding and oral function are fundamental to growth, development and overall wellbeing. Orofacial Myology focuses on the relationship between the muscles of the face, mouth, tongue and jaw, and how these influence breathing, feeding, sleep, speech, dental development and facial growth.
As a Speech Pathologist and Orofacial Myologist with over 15 years of clinical experience, I provide assessment and therapy for babies, children, adolescents and adults experiencing challenges with oral function, airway health and feeding.
Services may assist with:
• Mouth breathing and poor nasal breathing habits
• Snoring and sleep-disordered breathing
• Tongue ties and pre/post-release therapy
• Low tongue posture and tongue thrust
• Thumb sucking, dummy use and other oral habits
• Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding difficulties
• Feeding, chewing, drinking and swallowing challenges
• Oral motor skill development
• Jaw pain, clenching, grinding and TMJ dysfunction
• Supporting healthy oral and facial development
• Complementing orthodontic and dental treatment outcomes
• Promoting optimal tongue function, lip seal and breathing patterns
Therapy is individualised and evidence-informed, with a focus on identifying underlying causes, improving function and supporting long-term outcomes for breathing, feeding, sleep and overall oral health.
